About

Several years ago, a small group of local arts specialists formed an idea:  that the Cincinnati area has a critical need for an expanded arts presence beyond the downtown itself.  Since then, this core group, led by Dan Dermody, Ed Cohen and Dee Anne Bryll have pursued the dream of creating an ambitious facility which would attract both artists and audiences, at an affordable cost to each. With unique support from the City of Cincinnati and the Madisonville Community Council, the old, vacant Madisonville Senior Center building on the corner of Whetsel and Sierra Avenues is being developed into the Madisonville Arts Center, ('The MAC') with the goal of providing a first-class venue for performing arts, music, media, and graphic art.

The MAC is a three-story building, with 10,800 square feet of space. The first floor contains an art gallery, office, kitchen, and bathrooms. The second floor features a 170 seat theater, lobby, actors' Green Room, and bathrooms. The third floor will be devoted to  classrooms, rehearsal space, offices, conference room, a studio shop, and storage area. The entire building is handicap accessible.

The MAC's programming will provide vital, diverse art and entertainment at a location central to a huge portion of our population, complementing the ongoing development and growth taking place in Madisonville, Oakley and the region.  In addition, the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) Preparatory Department is establishing a satellite teaching facility at The MAC as part of their mission to make arts education available, accessible and affordable to any person who wants it.

The MAC is excited for the opportunity to become part of the rich history of the Madisonville community, helping to expand that heritage as a current, vital part of our area's artistic growth. We are committed to providing the diverse and varied  programming necessary for our success and the support of our city's arts organizations.

The space is available on a co-op basis, with ticket revenue being equally split by the MAC and the performing group. The theatre includes state-of-the-art lighting and sound system.

Learning Center/Rehearsal Space:
