Keven Speece proposed the "Green Architecture" concept for the renovation. "Green Architecture" is the buzz word for sustainable architecture. The strategy for sustainable architecture is to use environmentally friendly materials in the renovation of the property. The goal of MAC is to re-use existing materials, in new and creative ways to be energy efficient and cost saving. (An example is to use acoustical ceiling tile from the 1st floor and fasten it to the walls and ceiling in the theater to help with sound issues.) What can not be utilized, but may be of value, will be sold and the money will be used to purchase other materials. Both ways will keep the waste to a minimum. Another plus to this project is that grant funds are available for this type of renovation. |
